Frimpong, 22, was highly-rated in his youthful days in the club’s academy and reserves sides and was thought to be one of the club’s key players for several years at the heart of their midfield.

It didn’t work out, though, and his career nose-dived, meaning he’s now had to seal a permanent switch to Barnsley as his Arsenal contract was expiring at the end of the season.

His deal runs until June of this year, meaning, if he doesn’t impress while at Barnsley he’ll be without a club in the summer.

Frimpong has had spells at Wolves, Charlton, Fulham and has now joined Barnsley.

He has been capped just once by Ghana after representing England at Under-16 and Under-17 level.
